Weekend Getaway: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Los Angeles Westside

We recently headed back to Los Angeles for the weekend (where we lived before we moved to Austin) to see family, and all the changes going on in the city.

If you aren’t familiar with L.A., Culver City and Playa Vista are considered the Westside, which is a hotspot for locals and visitors. Not only is this area less than 10 minutes from the airport, but also just a few miles from the beach, shopping, and some of the best restaurants in L.A.

We decided to stay at the Doubletree by Hilton Westside, since its central to all the things we love about L.A.

The hotel itself is near so many great food options, but you don’t actually have to even leave the hotel for a quick bite or drink, the lobby has a full bar, wine bar, and bistro called Share.

Share features small plate options, an enomatic Wine Serving System, with over 30 wines available by the glass. They also serve hand-crafted cocktails and a variety of beer selections, and a coffee barista service is available from 6:00 am – 2:00 pm.

After grabbing a much-needed glass of wine, we checked in at the front desk. We have a Hilton Honors Amex which we love to use, as we get 7x the points. If you stay at Hilton Hotels often, it is a must-have. We were also given lots of warm cookies (a Doubletree signature). The cookies are so good in fact, that multiple bakers have attempted to recreate the cookie and you can find copycat cookie recipe on blogs.

After settling in we received an amazing tray of goodies including cocktail mixes, fresh fruit, candy, and nuts to snack on. We also had a chance to enjoy the view from out room, and the gorgeous sunset.

As much as we loved the hotel as is, we were excited to hear that there are plans in the works for a $35 million renovation, which is set to begin in early 2019.

The hotel is located in such a great area, and one that is quickly transforming with the influx of technology companies like Facebook, Apple, and Google. An area nearby that was previously just a busy intersection, has been revamped as The Platform. Now, an epicenter for shopping at boutique shops, eating with local culinary talent, and pop-up shops run by creative entrepreneurs. We stopped there for breakfast at Blue Bottle Coffee, to walk around and check out the open-market style shops on the weekend.

The plans to renovate The DoubleTree LA – Westside, and eventually rebrand it, will give the destination new life inside and out. They are going to work on all public spaces, the exterior façade and landscaping, meeting space, all 375 guest room, and guest baths. Amenities such as the fitness center, pool, Share Bistro, Share Wine Lounge and more will also be upgraded.

We are excited to return when the renovations are complete to once again stay in the city we love so much!

Make sure you check out the video about our stay!
